Before we jump into telling you how to jailbreak, we need to make you aware of one or two issues that have arisen:
The version of Cydia in the jailbreak utility is unofficial –Saurik has confirmed he was never asked for the official version so you should expect some issues with compatibilityIf you use apps that need Mobile Substrate, there are compatibility - issues there as well. Please only download those apps and tweaks that specifically say they are for iOS 7.
- Finally, if you have upgraded your iOS device using the Over The Air method, the jailbreak will most likely fail at some point. Before you apply the jailbreak:
- Back up your device through iTunes and/or iCloud
- Keeping your device connected, press and hold the Power and Home buttons at the same time for 10 seconds. Release the Power button and continue to hold the Home button until iTunes detects your iOS device in recovery.
- Hold down the SHIFT key (Alt for Mac users) and click Restore in iTunes at the same time
- iTunes will restore your device to the latest firmware.
Once you have done this, you can go ahead and jailbreak your device using Evasi0n 7. Here is how to do so .
How to Jailbreak iPhone 5 using Evasi0n :
- Download Evasi0n 7 – make sure to use the version that is compatible with your operating system
- Open the application and connect your iOS device to your PC
- Evasi0n should now detect your device
- Click on the Jailbreak button
- Evasi0n will now proceed to jailbreak your iOS device
- Your device will reboot a number of times during the process and you will be asked to tap on the Evasi0n icon on your Home screen – do so
The whole jailbreaking procedure should take no more than 5 minutes
and, once complete, you can go ahead and start using Cydia. Let us know
how you get on and if you encounter any problems or not. If you do come
up against any issues, you can restore your device through iTunes and
try again. However, if this does not work, you will need to wait for
evad3rs to release an update to evasi0n 7.
